Welcome to the Build Your Business
Starting a business can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.
Build Your Business is designed to help you take your idea, shape it into a clear plan and decide what steps to take next. Using the Business Model Canvas, you’ll work through a series of practical exercises to capture your business idea on a single page.
Throughout the programme you’ll:
- Explore the key elements of a successful business
- Define your customers, products or services, and revenue streams
- Understand what makes your business different
- Learn how to explain your business clearly and confidently
- Identify your next steps and create an action plan
- Decide whether starting or growing your business is right for you
You’ll be guided through seven short modules by Olly Ashton from Turning Point, who will share practical advice and help you build your plan step by step.
Before you begin, visit the Materials tab above to download the workbook and resources you’ll need throughout the programme. We also recommend having some pens and a few coloured sticky notes handy to help you capture and organise your ideas.
To get started, open Module 1: The Key Elements for Building Your Plan below. In the first video, Olly will introduce the programme and explain how to make the most of the Business Model Canvas.
Once you’ve completed a module, remember to click Mark Complete to unlock the next one and keep track of your progress.
